Community Resilience Initiative Course 1

The Community Resilience Initiative (CRI) has developed courses to teach any communitymember interested in learning more about toxic stress and how individuals and communitiesbuild resilience across the lifespan.
CRI Course 1: Trauma-Informed is a 6-hour course that covers NEAR Science (Neuroscience, Epigenetics, ACE Study, Resilience), Brain States, and ROLES strategies for individuals seeking a trauma-informed certification.

safeTALK

safeTALK is a 3-hour training in suicide alertness. It helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources who can help them in choosing to live. Participants do not need any formal preparation to attend the training.

Over the course of their 3-hour workshop, safeTALK participants learn to:
- Notice and respond to situations where suicide thoughts maybe present,
- Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked,
- Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide,
- Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, KeepSafe, and
- Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further suicide-safer help.
There currently is no cost per participant. Training materials and facilitation are provided thanks to the generous support of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) through the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board.

Teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness andsubstance use disorders. The training introduces common mental health challenges and givesyou the skills to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing amental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

PRIMEROS AUXILIOS DE SALUD MENTAL (MHFA)

Rappahannock Area Community Service Board y Healthy Families Rappahannock Area se complacen en asociarse para llevar los primeros auxilios de salud mental en español a nuestra comunidad.
Los primeros auxilios de salud mental le enseñan cómo identificar, comprender y responder a los signos de enfermedad mental y trastornos por consumo de sustancias. Esta capacitación le da las habilidades que necesita para llegar y proporcionar apoyo inicial a alguien que puede estar desarrollando un problema de salud mental o uso de sustancias y ayudar a conectarlo con la atención adecuada.
Los primeros auxilios de salud mental cubren:

El curso será presencial (8 horas, dirigido por un instructor).El entrenamiento es 14 de noviembre es de 8:30 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. en el RACSB en River Club (10825 Tidewater Trail, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). The LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, commonly referred to as ASIST, is a 2-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. Participants learn to recognize when someonemay have thoughts of suicide and to work with the individual to create a plan that will supporttheir immediate safety. ASIST can be learned and used by anyone ages 16 and older.

Course Specifics

- Provide guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs
- Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to implement it
- Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the community at large
- Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care
There currently is no cost per participant. RACSB is providing lunch and refreshments both days of the training (please bring your own coffee/tea). Training materials and facilitation are provided thanks to the generous support of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Space is limited to 30 participants. Only register if you are able to attend and fully participate the full two days and are not “on-call” for other duties during that time. (A minimum of 10 registrations is needed to host the course.)
