For the individuals in our day support program, each day holds the promise of a new activity. Rappahannock Adult Activities began four decades ago, when community members noticed that adults with developmental disability didn’t have anywhere to go during the day. The program isn’t about giving them a place to spend the day, however. RAAI gives individuals the chance to pursue their passions, learn new skills, and develop friendships.
With supports tailored to each individual, our day support program serves individuals with varying levels of developmental disability. We support individuals with a developmental disability in the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford. We have activity centers in each locality.
Our staff diligently explore opportunities in the community to meet the desires of program participants. Whether it’s taking a train enthusiast to the railroad museum or an animal-lover to the petting zoo, our day support program helps individuals pursue their passions.
Our staff works with families and community partners to meet the needs of every individual. We pride ourselves on being able to support anyone.
At RAAI, we offer three types of day support services:
- Group Day: For four decades, we have offered services in our activity centers. Through group day services, we are able to serve individuals with severe needs and help them develop strong friendships, living skills, and hobbies.
- Community Coaching: We offer one-on-one support out in the community for individuals who need extra support. This service helps individuals with high needs make better community connections.
- Community Engagement: We take small groups in the community to explore their interests and pursue their passions.
RACSB serves as the fiscal agent for Rappahannock Adult Activities.
