Medication can play an important role in the lives of individuals with behavioral health concerns and developmental disabilities, but studies show that more than half do not regularly take their prescribed medications. To improve the health of residents in the greater Fredericksburg region, Rappahannock Area Community Services Board has partnered with Altruix pharmacy.

“The individuals we serve have unique needs,” said Joe Wickens, executive director of RACSB. “Altruix focuses on behavioral healthcare and developmental disability services, giving them a valuable expertise. The pharmacy team will provide tailored care to the people we serve and offer a valuable resource to our employees.”

Lack of money, time and transportation plays a significant role in preventing people from taking their medications as prescribed. Altruix will mitigate these barriers by offering an on-site pharmacy inside RACSB’s Fredericksburg Clinic, financial assistance and flexible delivery options.

“Our partnership with RACSB represents a meaningful step forward in expanding access to specialized care for those who need it most,” said Greg Ganse, Altruix CEO. “This collaboration underscores our ongoing commitment to supporting RACSB’s staff as we work together to improve the health and well-being of individuals with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

Altruix and RACSB will host a pharmacy grand opening on October 22 at 3 p.m. at RACSB’s Fredericksburg Clinic to celebrate the partnership.
