Unused and expired medications left in the home can lead to accidental poisoning. They can become an easy source for those seeking to misuse or abuse medication.
We encourage everyone to safely dispose of medications. This does not mean flushing down the toilet or simply throwing in the trash.
There are permanent medication collection bins located throughout Planning District 16. To find a location near you: https://bit.ly/PlanningDistrict16MedicationCollectionSites
You can also use cat litter or coffee grounds to dispose of medications at home. Here are two how to videos:

And, October Means Operation Medicine Cabinet!
Locally, the Partners in Aging coalition with the support of local law enforcement host this event to coincide with National Drug Take Back Day. This year, it’s Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Simply drop off your expired and unused medications and sharps at any of the locations listed. You don’t even have to get out of your vehicle. It’s that easy.
In the meantime, keep your medications secure. Keep an inventory so you know what you have and how much.
