Rappahannock Adult Activities’ annual Spring Plant Sale is underway. This vibrant event offers area residents the chance to purchase a wide variety of high-quality plants while helping adults with developmental disabilities flourish in our community. And, this year, the event will feature workshops to help customers get the most from their gardens.

Shoppers can choose from more than 100 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers and hanging baskets. All proceeds from the plant sale benefit RAAI, a day support program for adults with developmental disabilities in the greater Fredericksburg community. RAAI provides essential supports that foster independence, promote inclusion and enhance the quality of life for the individuals served by the program.

“Our plant sale is a wonderful opportunity for people in our community to cultivate stunning gardens while making a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with developmental disabilities. We are grateful for the many people who make our sale part of their spring traditions, and we look forward to meeting new customers. We’re especially excited to announce workshops, where people will discover gardening tips and explore fresh ways to use their harvests.”
-Lacey Fisher, coordinator of RAAI.

Workshops will include:

  • Talk Dirt to Me, April 10 at 5:30 p.m. Attendees can bring a sample of soil to be tested. They will also learn ways to create healthy soil and take home a bag of our custom soil blend.
  • Charcuterie in the Greenhouse, April 17, 6-7 p.m. Attendees will learn how to craft a charcuterie board with items grown in their garden and will receive a custom mini charcuterie board.
  • Plant Your Intentions, April 28, 6 p.m. Attendees will plant a houseplant and explore meditation, the lunar cycle and setting intentions.

Each workshop will take place at RAAI’s greenhouse at 750 Kings Highway in Stafford County. Attendees can purchase tickets online, www.rappahannockareacsb.org/shop.

Customers can purchase plants at the greenhouse on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Proceeds will benefit RAAI, which helps adults with disabilities explore hobbies, develop friendships, and learn new skills.
