Each year, the Art of Recovery exhibit reminds our community of something powerful: recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and creativity can be an important part of the healing journey.

We are accepting artwork submissions for the 2026 Art of Recovery exhibit.

This annual show celebrates the talents, voices, and stories of adults who have mental illnesses.

At the Intersection of Art and Recovery

Art of Recovery is so much more than an exhibit. It provides space for creativity. For healing. For hope.

For many of the artists featured, creating plays an important role in recovery. Art provides more than a means of expression–though that is an important benefit. It also can raise serotonin levels while reducing cortisol levels, boost cognitive functioning, and improve fine motor skills.

The Mayo Clinic reports that creative arts therapy “can improve focus, assist with processing emotions, improve communication, and increase self-esteem.”

A study released in 2025 found that participating in community arts projects (such as the Art of Recovery) “enhances social connections and self-expression, which are key elements of mental health recovery.”

Why Art of Recovery Matters

Mental illness affects individuals and families across our community, yet stigma and misunderstanding still create barriers to connection and support. Art of Recovery offers a different way to start the conversation—one rooted in creativity and shared experience.

By visiting the exhibit or supporting participating artists, community members are invited to reflect, learn, and recognize the many paths recovery can take.

Join Us

Whether you are an artist considering submitting work, a family member offering encouragement, or a community member who plans to visit the exhibit, Art of Recovery is an invitation—to see recovery through a new lens and to celebrate the strength and creativity within our community.

We look forward to sharing this year’s exhibit and the powerful artwork behind it.
