Food. Drinks. Gorgeous flowers. A great cause.

Rappahannock Adult Activities‘ annual Garden Party gives you first dibs on the popular plants grown by adults with developmental disability, with help from volunteers from the Master Gardener Association of the Rappahannock Area.

Your garden will bloom, and our day support participants will flourish. The festivities start the night before our spring plant sale. Friday morning, customers will be waiting for the sale to open, to get the best selection of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Garden Partygoers will get a jump on that, and will be able to purchase plants Thursday night. They will also enjoy food from the Community Cafe, a wonderful project by Micah Ecumenical Ministries, beer from Spencer Devon Brewing, and other drinks throughout the party.

You’ll get to mingle with other garden aficionados and people who care about helping adults with developmental disability thrive in our community.

Tickets cost $35, which includes the food, drinks, and fun. You can order them online or by calling 540-373-7643.

All proceeds help adults with developmental disability enjoy community activities. The money provides community activities and events for participants of our day support program. This service helps about 150 adults with developmental disability develop hobbies, passions, skills, and friendships.

Assistant Coordinator of Day Services Nathan Reese said:

The mission of our program is to support all individuals with a developmental disability, no matter how significant their barriers are. Each day, we want them to have the best day they could possibly have.

Public comment may be submitted up until 4:00 pm on May 19th by emailing  publicinformation@rappahannockareacsb.org.  Public comments that include the full name and address of the commenter will be read into the record during the Public Comment portion of the meeting.  The meeting will be Livestreamed on Rappahannock Area Community Services Board’s Facebook page on May 19, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

We encourage our community to stay home (whenever possible) and stay safe throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. We now offer most of our outpatient, early intervention, and case management services via telemedicine so you can receive the support you need from the safety of your home.

Our committee and board meetings and facilities tour for April have been canceled. Our day support programs are suspended temporarily.

Our popular plant sale is continuing but with some changes to ensure everyone's safety. Please order ahead and your plants will be waiting for you when you drive up.

At this time, we are suspending recruitment for most positions. See our employment portal for more information.
